So Many Updates!

Sorry it has been so long since our last update. Pete did such a nice job of keeping the website up to date when I was out of town so that I could check out how BIG David was getting while I was traveling! Now that I've been back, we've just been spending so much fun family time together that we have been ignoring the blog! Well, here's the last 3 weeks in a nutshell.....

Eating....David has been adding all kinds of new fruits and veggies to his meal plan in addition to rice cereal. He seems to really like most of them, but will basically eat anything! He hasn't particularly cared for bananas, and his favorites have been sweet potatoes, pears and applesauce. Oh, and he ate an entire jar of carrots at daycare last Friday......which required a jar of prunes on Saturday and Sunday to take care of his stomach problems! We have also started to introduce him to a sippy cup with water at meal times, because he will need to be off a bottle completely by the time of his palate repair surgery. He does OK with it, but he really just likes to chew on the top and have the water stream all down his bib!

Sitting.....He is now a professional sitter with very few wobbles! He is even sitting up in the bath tub and not using his mesh tub anymore! He loves to watch the water pour out of the faucet and he has a rubber duck and a fish that he likes to chew on. Although his favorite bath toy seems to be a wash cloth!

Growing and growing.....We had David's 6-month well-check on Monday, February 23, so we were really at 6 1/2 months. He was a whopping 19 lbs, 12 oz - at the 78th percentile for his age group! He was around the 50th percentile for height and his head circumference was up there too, so he has a lot of brains in that noggin! We took photos at JC Penney's yesterday and we will post the link to them in about 10 days.
Surgery today.....we had surgery at Gillette with Dr. Liston to replace his ear tubes this morning. After Christmas, he had some discharge from his ears, and after getting them checked out several times at his pediatricians' office and putting drops in several times a day we decided to go to his ENT. We learned our lesson - we need to go to the ENT right away with any ear problems. He said that the tubes had popped out and weren't functioning properly. He didn't have any infection, the tubes were just blocked because they weren't draining. Our options were to have surgery to get them replaced now, or to wait until his palate surgery, which will still be a few months away. He seemed to have a lot of pain due to his ears, so we opted for the surgery now. We had to wait a few weeks due to schedule conflicts, but we were able to get a 7:30 a.m. surgery time today. It was a same-day surgery and we arrived at Gillette at 6:15 and left by 9:00 a.m. Things went really well and we were once again so thankful for the excellent care he received at Gillette.
Future Appointments.....We go back to Gillette on March 17 for our first consulation about David's palate surgery. It will be nice to know our next steps and get some timing down for his next surgery. We'll keep everyone posted.
For now, enjoy the super cute photos of our little (BIG!) munchkin. He is such a joy and we treasure him every second of every day!!!!

Hi.
He is sooo cute. Love the bath picture, looks like he doesn`t mind being in there a bit. It is fun to see his personality developing - just watching his expressions change. Thanks for the pictures.
