Crazy Life

OK, so people told us and told us we would be busy with a toddler. They were right!

Everyone is doing great and things are going well. David is singing and talking and potty training and making friends (WHEREVER we go). Thought we would share some recent photos and videos we have been enjoying recently. Hope everyone is doing well!

Was May 1st really the last post?

It has been far too long since the last post. Our old computer left us some time ago and it has taken longer than expected to restore all items to original conditions.

Everyone is doing well here. David is a blur of energy, motion and words.

May went by very quickly. We were fortunate and able to take a vacation to San Diego. Here is David on one of our last nights.

After California, David and Nicole were off to Grand Forks to celebrate Dylan and Owen's birthdays. Grandpa Dave taught the boys all about cookies.

After Grand Forks, we made a trip to Roseau to spend time with Pete's family.

After all that travel in May, June was the perfect opportunity to take a break from family travel. While we laid a bit low as a family, David still had the opportunity to get in a play date with Lilly and Josie.

We spent the 4th of July in Grand Forks. While David could not stay up late enough to see the big fireworks, he did learn how to drive a boat...

Most of July has been quiet. Grandpa and Grandma Dohn came down to visit our family last weekend (OK, they came to visit David). Since they were in town and it was close to David's birthday (hard to imagine he will be 2 on August 9th.) We decided to celebrate a little early.

Since David is such a big boy, we decided he needed a Big Boy Bed for his birthday! Here he is enjoying his birthday present a bit early.

Missing Mommy, Parks and Nature Hikes

Nicole is in San Diego, so David and I have been trying to find ways to pass the time. Today we went on a mini nature hike on a trail near our house.
While it is a bit of the road less traveled, there were plenty of things for David to see and do.
Other than nature walks, we have been spending a lot of time at a nearby park. Why can't engineers figure out a way to reduce the amount of static electricity kids pick up from playground equipment?

While David does miss Mommy. We are having fun.

We're gonna win Twins! Well, maybe not...

Hi everyone!

Just thought we would put up a quick post from the Twins game. We saw the Twins take on the Royals this past Sunday at the new Target field. If anyone reading this is tired of hearing how great the new stadium is... Well, ok, we won't say much other than the new stadium is truly spectacular and we highly recommend you get out to see a game there.

While it was disappointing the Twins couldn't win to sweep the series, the stadium really made up for the lack of a win. Nicole and I can say the hamburgers and walleye fingers were very good, David seemed particularly fond of the popcorn.

He also enjoyed watching the game with mom...

and dad.

Of course, who wouldn't enjoy watching a game when this is the view (admittedly, David liked the rather large TV)?

Parks, Twins Baseball, and Grandpa Allan

What a difference those few months of winter made to our experience at local parks. David loves to run and no longer has any fear of slides, falling, stairs, or really anything that may cause physical harm. Thankfully, David gave us a short reprieve with this backhoe toy.
Shortly after this, he found the rock wall. As it turns out, he can climb really quite well!

We are very excited to go see our first Twins game this weekend at the new park! Look for us on Sunday if you watch the game! David has been practicing the We're gonna win Twins song and has most of it down now.

Grandpa Allan came to visit last weekend. David had a lot of fun spending time with Grandpa. Here he is reminding Grandpa of one of the rules when coloring - No eating crayons, Grandpa!

SPRING!

With gorgeous weather the past few weeks, including 70+ degrees the last 2 days, we have been spending plenty of time outside in the evenings. David has been enjoying his trike, dump truck and tee-ball set, as well as visiting every neighbor's open garage to see what they have available for him to play with! I have a feeling he's going to wear through lots of jean's knees and also have his fair share of skinned knees this summer with how he likes to run with his dump truck and then slide on his knees to stop. My mom said that I will have to learn how to sew patches in jeans....not so sure I can be that domestic!

He is growing so fast and is getting so big! He is a very busy little boy and likes to climb on everything and will use anything as a step stool to get up to the next highest location. We know that when we hear "jumpy, jumpy, jumpy" coming from his mouth that we better pay attention and see what height he is at and planning to jump from!

He also has a great vocabulary and loves to talk and sing. He is even taking a music class at school on Tuesdays. His new favorite song is "Baa, Baa, Black Sheep" and he gets through the "ABCs" pretty well. Of course, Pete and I are most proud that we have taught him "We Will Rock You" and part of "Bohemian Rapsody". He also likes to count everything and most of the time can make it from 1 to 10 with only missing a number or two! He can do a great monkey impression and really gets into his "cockadoodle-dooing" when we ask what a rooster says.

We had an ENT regular check-up yesterday and he passed his hearing tests again with flying colors. Dr. Liston (ENT) asked when we see Dr. Wood (cranio-facial surgeon) next and we said August, and that's when he's supposed to start speech therapy. Dr. Liston said that he didn't think he would need speech therapy with how well he is speaking already. That was great to hear!

Enjoy some fun spring photos!
